Youth Summer Firefighter/Police Camp

Welcome and thank you for your interest in our Youth Summer Camp for your child

Attendees will be led by men and women from the fire department and the police department sharing their personal experiences in achieving their goals.

The topics discussed during the Junior Fire Academy include:

  • Learn fire safety, then apply what they learned
  • Learn about the fire department, trucks (apparatus), and personnel
  • Have the opportunity to watch firefighters with various equipment and see how they work.
  • Learn how the ladders work and watch them in action.
  • Proper hose techniques to connect to the hydrant, flow water, roll up, etc. (as shown by the firefighters)
  • Fire Extinguishers
  • Rescue tools hands-on and during simulated live demonstrations
  • Fire gear-bunker pants, jacket, helmet, safety gloves & and glasses all provided.
  • Learn about The Glendale Police Department
  • Radar Detection
  • Evidence Collection
  • K9 Demos
  • SWAT Demos
  • Physical fitness.
  • CPR and First Aid demonstrations

Pick Up and Drop Off Location

Drop Off:Tuesday, July 9th to Friday, July 12th at 7:45 AM.

Pickup:Tuesday, July 9th to Friday, July 12th at 1:00 PM.


When picking up your child, you will need to show a valid ID (i.e., driver’s license) before your child’s release. If someone else (i.e., babysitter, family member, guardian, etc.) will be picking up your child, they will also need to show a valid ID. Please be sure to let that person know. To ensure the safety of your children, no child will be released to anyone without a valid ID. The person picking up your child must be listed on the registration form.

General Informaiton:

Your child will be given a shirt (the size that you indicated on the registration form). We ask that your child wear the shirt for every day of the Academy (the shirt may require a washing or two to prevent unwanted odors)J.

There will be light Physical Training (PT). Please make sure that your child is wearing closed-toed shoes (no dress shoes, sandals, or flip-flops).

Portions of the Academy will be outdoors. Please make sure your child has sunblock. If the weather is or becomes severe, we will move to an appropriate safe location which will be determined at that time.

Graduation:

On Friday, July 12th at 1:00 PM there will be a graduation and lunch provided. The graduation will consist of certification presentations, awards, and a short video of events that occurred throughout the camp. The students will be dismissed and released after graduation or at the parent/guardian’s preference, at or before 2:00 p.m.
